SACRAMENTO- Today, Assemblyman Curt Hagman (R-Chino Hills), released an update as legislative staff and legal counsel finalize language on the state budget and subsequent trailer bills. Tomorrow, the Assembly and Senate meet for floor session to pass the budget before the June 15th midnight deadline. While there are currently about a dozen trailer bills to analyze, several more trailer bills still have not been finished, limiting public transparency, preventing Legislators from being properly prepared to discuss them on the floor tomorrow, and possibly pushing the vote into Saturday morning as well. Some of the issues remaining to be addressed include Proposition 39 fund distribution and higher education.
“My Republican colleagues and I are eager to assist in getting a responsible budget passed on time,” stated Assemblyman Hagman. “However, this is difficult to do when things get pushed to the last minute, transparency is limited, and our members are left out of compromise discussions. While efficiency and adherence to the process are important, we must work together to ensure a transparent, accountable, and reasonable budget is passed,” Hagman continued.
